A 2nd Jerusalem?

There's a "Coming Soon" sign for Jerusalem Restaurant in my little corner of of the Upper East Side - on First Ave between 62-63 Streets. The neighborhood could really use a decent falafel sandwich place.

I'm wondering: is this associated with the other Jerusalem on Broadway and 103rd Street on the UWS? If so, is the falafel something to look forward to?

  1. I'm guessing that it's not associated with the Broadway-103 place, which seems to be basically a one guy operation. And for your sake, I hope not. IMO their falafel is one of the greasiiest, awful falafel's to be had anywhere in NYC.

Really? I've never found their falafels greasy. I've never found them anything but delicious. Granted, I haven't been in about a year... have they gone down hill?

If you go when it's busy, the falafel are usually good (unless the fryer guy gets impatient and undercooks them). But I've had it once or twice where the fryer wasn't yet hot and the falafel came grease-logged and under-crispy or someone even threw pre-cooked falafel back into the fryer to reheat, resulting in a very dry, hard falafel. You get a better falafel if you go at peak hours, when there's a lot of turnover.

        funny thing...
its not associated with the 103rd broadway jerusalem...tha guy who runs tha store sold the rights to some other dude who is runnin the store now
but the owner of j'rusalem grill on 62nd n 1st ave used to work at 103rd and broadway
and the fallafel is SO much better on 62 and 1st
