Which Montreal restaurant, bakery or cafe serves the best plum (Christmas) pudding?

Which Montreal restaurant, bakery or cafe serves the best plum (Christmas) pudding? (I would like to drop in and get a serving - not a whole pudding... (is it still served anywhere?)...prefer downtown locations or public transit accessible...
Thanks for your input!

  1. Saddens me that nobody has replied! I am fairly new to Montreal so don't know my way around very well. I am planning to call Gryphon D'or Tea Room to see if they will be serving Christmas pudding. It's a great little place on Monkland. Looks like Quebec traditional foods trump Brit favourites, pity!

English foods are not all that common here. You'd do better looking for Irish traditional foods.

Thanks for that reference, I haven't been on Monkland in a few years, so it is worth a try.
Thanks for the other suggestions below as well, much appreciated!

      2. Anyone know if Ogilvy's still has a restaurant? If I had to guess where you might find plum pudding downtown, that would have been it.

The restaurant at Ogilvy's is called Cafe Romy serving salads, sandwiches and pasta, nothing british traditionnal over there

          Cafe Romy

Ah, thanks - I think times have changed. ;-)

Hey, they don't even have a piper any more. Jesus wept!

I see a piper everytime I`m in there! Last time was on Saturday.

I'm never by there on the weekend. But as a child they piped the store closed every night. I live nearby and have yet to see it in a year.

                  1. re: bigfellow

The piper is there every day at noon, but not at closing AFAIK - has been like that for quite a few years.

I was away for 35 years and got back 11 months ago. What do I know... Thank you for the correct info.

        2. Murray's used to. I think there is still one in the TMR shopping centre. Unfortunately they closed the others as far as I know. They had great caesar salads as well.

That last Murrays closed a few months ago.
