With 2 small children, its not often that we get to go out to dinner anymore. Before kids some of our favorites were Mise en Place for the food and romanticity, Jacksons for the atmosphere, Berns for very, very special occassions and with the kids, we will hit up places like Bonefish, Flamestone in Oldsmar, Z-Grille in St. Pete, and Casa Tina in Dunedin.

We live in Clearwater, and will probably see a movie as well so we can eat anywhere in the Clearwater, St. Pete, Oldmsar, or South or West tampa. The only thing I'd like to stay away from is Cuban/Spanish because we just had that last night for dinner :)

We love steak, wine, and seafood, especially Chilean Sea Bass and it would be nice to have somwhere with a little atmosphere and the ability to have a cocktail before/and/or after dinner.

C'mon BAY AREA FOODIES- HOOK ME UP!

    400 Beach Seafood & Taphouse in St. Pete is tasty and walking distance from Baywalk (as well as the waterfront): http://www.400beachseafood.com For a fun date night, to me it's hard to beat Ceviche in St. Pete as well. Nearer to Clearwater, Cafe Ponte is delightful and only 10 minutes from Park Plaza AMC for a movie later--their menu is always imaginative and the atmosphere perfect to good conversation and romance.

      I've had good luck using sitter city to find sitters.

          Catch Twenty Three off Linebaugh in Westchase has a nice Chilean Sea Bass.

            Well, I wish you wouldn't seek out Chilean Sea Bass, as that is a big environmental no-no. (Check out http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/SeafoodWatch/web/sfw_factsheet.aspx?gid=6

            )

            But back to date night! If I were having a date night in Clearwater, I'd choose Cafe Ponte: http://www.cafeponte.com/CafePontes/i.... Now, I have not been myself. But it has been at the top of my list for months because foodie friends of mine have recommended it so highly.

            In South Tampa, I'd choose Pane Rustica, which is my hands-down favorite for every occasion. At lunch, it's casual, but at night it offers seasonal, creative dishes and attentive, professional service. It can be noisy, though, so for date night, go later, like 8:30 or 9.

              Point taken about seabass, although I do try and limit my consumption to once or twice a year.
