? Best steak in DC proper?

fishie Dec 11, 2009 06:23 AM

Dont want to cross the river to Rays. I have a carnivorous guest coming to town, have been disappointed by Old Ebbitts and Dc chophouse. Don't want a chain, (eg Ruth's). Any suggestions? (Searching gets me restaurants with no reviews, maybe I am not doing it correctly)

I would go to the Prime Rib. Their signature dish is delicious...they do it right every time. Plus, like a classic steak house their sides and desserts are also top notch. A jacket is required for men but this is a fun old-school DC experience not to be missed.

      Prime Rib is good.

I also like BLT Steak and Bourbon Steak, although YMMV.

Fogo De Chao cannnot even compare with some of the ones said in here. While it is a decent restaurant, the steak they use does not taste like it is at least prime grade.

Charlie Palmer's Steak on The Hill. I love the food, atmosphere, service, and location. I think The Caucus Room also makes a great steak. I've never been a fan of the Prime Rib, although many people seem to like it.

I haven't tried Charlie Palmer's or Prime Rib, though I know both have their fans. We've been to the Caucus Room several times though and it is always a good meal, steak or otherwise.

I second Charlie Palmer in Capitol Hill - great steak, less old-school than Prime Rib or Palm. I also like BLT Steak but much of that has to do with their non-steak items; however, their steak is pretty good (certainly better than Ruths or Mortons).
