Saffron infused vodka -- how much saffron?
I drank a wonderful, seasonal drink at Macondo on E. Houson (in NYC). I am trying to recreate it. One ingredient is saffron infused vodka (that they made themselves)....so, how much saffron do I use?
One of the bartenders here in Boston (Scott Holliday at Rendezvous) makes saffron gin. I don't recall the exact amount but it wasn't more than a few threads and the infusion is rather rapid (a few hours or overnight). So start with 2 or 3 threads per 750 mL and taste it a day later. Add more as need be.
Christene- which cocktail was it? I am friends with Amuary, the head bartender/mixologist at Macondo and with Junior Merino who designed most of the drinks there and trained Amaury. I'll get the exact recipe for you.
