Hudson Yards/Javits Center...what's good in the area?
I'm renting out an ultra-cool artist's loft for the holidays on 37th between 9th and 10th. It's a little off the beaten path, but the space is worth it.
Wondering what's in the area that's walking distance as far as eats, bars and grocery/delis? I'll be hitting all of the classic spots covered on many "must-eat/drink" previous threads, but wondering if anybody has any recommendations from the immediate area...
Okay, found some good threads about near the Javits Center....Il Punto, Naima, 44 & X....so nice restaurants in the area are taken care of...
...and Manganaro's sounds definitely worth visiting as far as groceries/delis...any others in the area?
And how 'bout best bars in the area? Anything from hipster dives to yuppie mixology.
You should search 9th Avenue or Hells Kitchen, rather than Javits, since that's really more what you are near. There are lots of things along 9th -- Poseidon Bakery (greek), Casellula (wine bar), Uncle Nicks/Ouzeria (greek), Empanada Mama, and many more. On 10th, I'm a fan of Meskerem (ethiopian). Enjoy your time at the loft - sounds like fun.
It depends how far up 9th avenue you want to walk. Quite close to the where you're staying: I like the Market Cafe, on 9th + 37th, for bars, there are a couple of dives in the 30s on 9th, Subway bar, Daves Tavern.
Seabreeze Fish market on 9th +40th, hard to go wrong. the International Spice market next door is great, Stiles Vegetable market on 41st and 9th, and Washington/Big Apple next door for meat(they cut it there, great price on Filet Mignon among other things) you should be set.
