Lunch at Locke Ober

I have a long standing annual holiday lunch with some coworkers here and we went today. Other than our group getting smaller, nothing has changed.

They got rid of the $18.75 lunch special last week which was posted about here.and brought back their regular lunch menu. It was a great deal but I didn't find too much I wanted to eat.

I had the lobster bisque and the wienerschnitzel; a thin, breaded veal cutlet..perfectly cooked and topped with an egg, capers and anchovies..Holstein style? note for anyone seeking German food. DC next to me had oysters on 1/2 shell and also the wienerschnitzel. Normally I avoid ordering the same dish as my DC; but this just isn't a CH style sharing crowd..:)

Highly recommended for anyone seeking a classic Boston lunch in a classic room..side note..not too busy when we got there at 12:30 but full by 1:15. Crowd was slightly less than 50% Suit/jacket tie..so don't feel you need a jacket. I wore a sweater and slacks and was not at all out of place. I don't normally drink hi test at lunch but probably 1/2 the tables were. A fun trip back in time.

Recently I had the Colorado lamb rack (4 bones) in bread crumbs, which was decadently rich and buttery (as is not uncommon with some of Lydia's food)

Sounds great but can you elaborate a bit on the pricing? Since the $18.75 special is gone I'm curious what a lunch like you had might run me....

It was $85/pp with a nice tip and 1-2 glasses of wine per person. Not inexpensive but worth the price IMO...and a great way to experience LO without paying big$ at dinner.

So full i'm reduced to eating a bun rieu soup from Xinh Xinh tonight..:)
