Req's for Honey Baked Hams
I couldn't find more than one review (on Yelp- so I take it w/ a grain of salt) on Honey Baked Ham store. I have a coupon for $10 off and am on a budget for Christmas- so every dollar counts. Texas Honey Baked in Westlake got good reviews, but is more expensive.
Anyone know about Honey Baked on Research? Is there another place that offers an amazing spiral sliced ham besides these two?
I figure what I save on ham I'll spend on some good mustard from that Dai Due guy's offerings at the farmer's market.

I got a Honey Baked ham from the research location about 2 years ago and enjoyed it. It was a slice nicely and was not too sweet in flavor. Wish I could remember more.
I also believe that HEB sales a spiral sliced ham that you add the brown sugar (it comes in a packet) to when you cook it. I have had this at family Christmas and enjoyed it as well.

i got one from HEB fairly recently (last 6 months) and was disappointed at how salty and chemicaly tasting it was...
maybe they changed their recipe.

Good to know as I just realized that I am in charge of the ham for our Christmas. Marking HEB off the list.

Call over to Honey Baked Ham and see if they have (What they consider to be) any *Damaged* hams. These are the same smoked hams as first quality hams....the difference being the lesser quality ham was improperly cut and by their standards will not be sold as first quality hams. I have purchased the improperly sliced hams a half dozen times for holidays past and you really cannot tell the difference after a few slices have been removed. It is well worth the savings you receive from first quality hams.....and they taste the same.
I have tried other similar type smoked hams, by purchase or by gift, and I like HoneyBaked hams best. One day I'll have to give a Country Ham a try to compare.

We haven't been fans of the Honeybaked Brand Ham for several years now. While once a very good holiday party and dinner offering, we have observed that there has been a definite decline in quality - more surface fat and marbling, saltier and chemical/additive taste . If I still ate ham (too much sodium for me these days), I would recommend trying the spiral-cut ham sold at Whole Foods.

here is the info i got here:
http://www.centralmarket.com/Assets/P...
In the pre-cooked section, they list Fire-Glazed Nueske’s Ham $59.99 (serves 6-8
)Then there is this, which doesn't specify cooked or uncooked, or price:
CENTRAL MARKET SPIRAL-SLICED, FIRE-GLAZED HAM
Choose boneless or bone-in hams. Each ham is fire-glazed in the store with seasoned sugar by Central Market Partners.
BONELESS HAM LOIN
