Arlington lunch takeout

I will be visiting friends in Arlington for an afternoon over the holidays. Because of illness, we can't take my friends out for lunch, so I offered to bring lunch to their house. Since I'm driving from Philly, I don't want to tote food to Arlington. So, is there a good place between the beltway and Arlington (our destination is Second Street North) where I could buy a nice takout lunch for four people? I guess I'm thinking of sandwiches with all the fixins' or an entree entree or something a little fancy. Thanks.

the Italian Store at the intersection of Spout Run Parkway and 29 in Arlington is a good place for sandwiches and sides and just off I-66.

Also, in Clarendon, Liberty Tavern does a nice take-away business and you can check out their menu online. They can tell you which selections are better travelers than others.

I second Liberty Tavern, it would be my first choice, although all the above recs are good. If you go the chicken route, El Pollo Rico shouldn't be too far.

lost dog cafe has interesting sandwiches and decent pizzas with neat toppings. plus they have free delivery from either of their two locations. http://www.lostdogcafe.com/menu.htm

what neighborhood are your friends near?

From what Google maps tell me, Ravi Kabob on Glebe would be an excellent choice near to your destination - and I know that their food travels well up to at least 15 miles away.

Thai Square would also do the trick. Or going from Gonzocook's idea, get the chicken from Caribbean Grill which has such a nicer selection of sides.

How about rotisserie chicken and a couple of sides from one of the many such places in or near the county? I can't picture your route, so I'm not sure which of them to recommend.
