Beer steals.

So...

Walked into my local Krogers (at an undisclosed location) and found, to my surprise, four packs of Chimay White Cap on sale. Grabbed a four-pack and when I went to check out, rang it up to find that it was on sale for $4.30.

American dollars...

Four four...

Tell me that isn't the best deal in Beerdom!!! Anyone have a similar story?

PS - After I confirmed that the price was per pack and not per bottle, I cleaned them out of their last eight packs.

About six years ago in San Francisco, at a Trader Joe's I found magnum bottles of Hair of the Dog's "Fred" for $5.99 each. I put about eight in a cart and went to the checkout, only to be told that they would be discounted further to $3.99 each in a few days. I went home and phoned the brewery and asked about the batch number. The brewery told me they would be happy to buy them back for $5.99. In any case, I went back a few days later and bought about ten bottles for $3.99 each.

Back around '00, I used to find 12-oz bottles of Hair of the Dog's Adam and Fred at $1.99. Not quite the steal you got, but still quite a good deal.

A year or so back, the Cambridge and Brookline, MA., TJ's offered SN Celebration at $3.99 a sixer -- the best beer deal I've ever found in New England.

          Kenji,
I think HOTD 12-ouncers used to cost about two dollars in '00. It was worth it, though.

You did exactly what I have done - clean out the rest of the stock. I would have asked if they had any more "out back" too.

I love it when retailers don't have a clue what they are selling.

Dis the same w/Chimay Blue back in the 80's twice. Once in DC w/the small bottles, maybe 2 bucks ea and once @ a Buy Rite in Jersey for the large botlles, maybe $3.00 a bottle. Took everything they had.

I think the cashier made a mistake, a big mistake if you cleaned them out. I’m sure that was the per bottle price you paid for the four packs.
