There's not really that much around here... There's bar tano on 9th street and 3rd ave (never been but looks semi interesting), Monte's on Carroll just west of 3rd ave (not very good Italian but great atmosphere), Two Toms on 3rd ave and Union (good Italian), Belleville on 5th ave and 5th (decent French)... That's all I got. I'm sure there's more. How far are you willing to walk?

Monte's has been closed for over a year.

Although I hadn't been in more than 10 years I'm sorry the place was closed. Both times I was there the veal was actually pretty good. The crowd made for some good people watching.

Maybe someone will take the business over. At least they haven't torn the building down.

Not to get off topic... But I absolutely had one of those never forget moments when I went with my family at about 10 years old. It was truly old school south Brooklyn.

Kappa Sake house is great! I was just there last night, it's at 5th ave and 6th street I believe. Highly recommend it, and much better then Bar Tano which is a good spot to grab a drink, but doesn't really deliver on the food (IMBO).
