Dinner in Orlando on Christmas????

Hi there,

I'll be staying in Disney over the holidays and could use your help figuring out a good place to go for dinner on Christmas--I'm with a group of foodies who tend to like Ethnic cuisines, not standard American fare. Within disney or a short driving distance from the hotel (Polynesian) is ideal. We are willing to drive, but just not too far. Thanks, and I look forward to your suggestions!

  1. The only place I know of that's open and not in the tourist corridor is Highland Manor. It's in Apopka and I believe it's having a Christmas buffet. It's a high-end New Southern place. Indian, Chinese and Japanese restaurants are open all over town but don't expect a Christmas dinner. Other than that pretty much only hotel and theme park restaurants are open Christmas day. On Christmas Eve, Journey's at Alaqua has something going on that's probably worth driving to, but it's abuot 45 minutes from Disney. You might also call Cafe de France in Winter Park; there's a slight chance it will be open.

    1. If price isn't an option then Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian resort on Disney property would be a very special Christmas dinner, but you would need reservations and probably fast. I would assume that it fills up quickly on holiday since its a special occasion kind of place. I went there last year for around this time and it was probably the best meal I've ever had.

Kids are no problem in Orlando except at Victoria and Albert's and at Christini's.

We have a few places open here in mount dora that will be open on christmas. The historic lakeside inn will be featuring a buffet. Afterward you can enjoy the 2 million lights in donnely park. If you want ethnic,,I belive The frosty mug Icelandic resturaunt will be open but you might want to call first.

We don't necessarily need a traditional Christmas meal so feel free to pass along suggestions for great ethnic restaurants too! Thank you!

        2. I'm not sure whether it's still true, but it used to be that Epcot had some high quality international restaurants, so if you're qoing to be at Disney anyway maybe that's the day to do Epcot? I live in the Orlando suburbs and honestly don't know a single nice restaurant. It's all either chains or casual places.

I'm pretty sure I just saw that Bosphorous will be open on Christmas Day. If I'm correct, drive the 35 to 45 minutes it takes from Disney World. Bosphorous has exceptional Turkish food, a beautiful dining room and streetside seating.

          2. I think Scott Joeseph's Flog has a list of openings, Also Opentable lists which ones of its restaurants will be open.
