French Restaurant for Party in New Rochelle/Larchmont Vicinity
Would like to get names of good atmospheric French restaurants in New Rochelle or surroundings for a neighborhood party. I figure about 40-50 people.

None.
La Cremalliere in Banksville is the best. It's worth the trip.
Avoid La Panetiere like the plague.

I am looking for a place very close to New Rochelle. I have been to your suggested restaurant, but it is too far away for my needs. Thank you.

Le Provencal in Mamaroneck might work. More bistro type food, but good food and nice atmosphere.

Ok, this is not French but the cuisines have influenced each other: Zitoune
on Boston Post Rd (across from Mamaroneck HS) for very good Moroccan food and lots of atmosphere

Sadly, they have changed since their remodelling, but if the OP doesn't mind less food and higher prices, Le Provencal might work.
You're welcome and good luck to you, woodyfay.

Also, I can't think of its name, but there is a very pretty French bistro in Larchmont near the train station. Admittedly, I haven't eaten there, but the menu looks nice.

That would be Encore, I think... but I'm not sure that's big enough for the OP's party.

Yes, you're right. I just looked at their website ( http://www.encore-bistro.com/about.htm) and it says they can accomodate up to 60 people.
Also, on Wednesday in the winter they're doing a "melted cheese" night--fondue and raclette--which sounds pretty good to me

If Greenwich, CT isn't too far, Jean-Louis is the about the best French resto outside of NYC. Absolutely wonderful, and M. Gerin and his wife run a wonderful place, great for Private Parties, and a real french touch when he parks his 2CV classic Citroen right outside!

either jackie's bistro (eastchester) or bistro rollins (pelham) would probably work. at least the locations would, i think both would be fairly pricey, but check and enjoy whatever you choose

I posted previously about a French bistro near the Larchmont train station. It is called Pascal, not Encore, but the Encore website looks pretty good too..

I live in Larchmont and can vouch for Pascal's. Encore is great as well, but the owners are not as friendly. I also like Le Provencal, but my favorite would be Pascal's. There is also a new french bistro in Pelham - we have not gone yet but friends have and they give good reviews, as well as MH Reed in the NY Times - I think it's called Bistro Rollin.
