Bobby Vans - What to expect

Going out to a company dinner at BV and I am looking for some adivce. I have been to many steak houses in the city but no one I know has ever had dinner here. In fact, I have never seen a steak house menu with more non-steak items in my life. Any advice here?

    Alright, I am exaggerating -- a little. It's an average, middle-of-the-road steakhouse with edible, but inconsistently cooked, steak. At one point there was an artichoke salad on the menu that was decent, but I don't see it listed on the current Menupages menu. I'd personally avoid anything fried since the location I've been to (midtown west) doesn't seem to drain anything and fried items become soggy / rubbery very quickly. Haven't tried any of the seafood options. Maybe there's more hope, there.

    1. which one are you going to? I find the food to be better at the one on 46th Street.
      Steak tips were always a fav of mine there.

          The lamb chops are some of the best in the city. The Porterhouse for 2 is also a great option. As the previous poster stated, the one on 46th has the best food. Rick one of the owners would agree with that statement.
          One reason for many of the italian options, Rick one of the owners worked at Manhattan Cafe & The Palm for many years before BVs. The chicken parm with linguine is also a great option. The baked clams might nt be on the menu, but they will make it for you, one of the best in the city.

          In years of walking by it to use the Pan Am Building as a shortcut, I have never been in. Glad to hear this..might be a change of pace when next in town.

        3. i eat at the 54th street location often and have been to holiday parties here. its a decent steakhouse...not the best by any means but not the worst. their mac and cheese is a good side...their lambchops are solid...i think i had some sort of ribeye cut for steak that was fine enough.
