soup/salad spot open weekday evening in east 50s

Hi all - I work on 53rd and 3rd and tonight I am meeting a friend for a quick bite tonight at around 7:30-8:00. I'm not looking for waiter service or anything, just a chill place to grab some soup, sandwich or salad. Something very simple like hale & hearty or pret a manger, but a lot of these places around me close early, like 7 or earlier. Can anyone suggest a similar type spot in the neighborhood?

What about La Bonne Soupe (55th bet. 5th and 6th )? It is waiter service but it is inexpensive and the service is quite friendly.

i started to write la bonne soupe but then saw the no waiter service. if you are ok with a casual atmosphere with a waiter i highly suggest this place.

La Bonne Soupe is actually one of my fave restaurants and I was just there last Friday. We don’t have time to go there tonight though. We might check out Financier or Au Bon Pain. Thanks for the suggestions!

What about Financier on 54th and 1st? It is a branch of a French patisserie that is mostly downtown. Great croque monsieurs, hot/cold sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. There is a nice room in the back where there is wait service--its not immediately noticeable but tear yourself away from the amazing pastry case and its right there. Here is the lunch menu which I think is what they offer for dinner.
