Dessert wine/Port glasses in Vancouver-best price?

selena03 Dec 7, 2009 06:29 PM

I am having a dessert party this weekend and will be serving port and white dessert wine but don't have the glasses. I like Reidel but don't want to spend that much on glasses that will hardly be used (once a year). But I also don't want to go to Ikea (not because of the distance but the quality). Can someone recommend a good middle ground? Shop names and approx prices if you know them would be great. BTW, I am looking for 6 of each. Thank you.

Do you have Crate and Barrel? I bought these there and they're attractive and affordable.

Try Homesense, Winners, Home Outfitters, etc. The stock is hit or miss, but you can get some great deals. I don't know about prices for these specific items.

Thanks-I didn't even think of those. I will try Homesense and Winners tomorrow.

I went to homesense first and found what I needed. 14.99 for a set of 6 port glasses-exactly what I waslooking for so thank you for the tip. BTW I saw some stunning reidel champagne glasses for 9.99 per glass (I already have some-not reidel) and le creuset round med size in yellow. Thought I'd pass along the good deals-I am assuming these items go fast so hopefully they are not gone if you decide pick them up:).

You could try HomeSense. It's hit and miss what they have there.. but it's worth a shot... sometimes they even have Riedel stuff (the cheaper line). They usually bring it a lot of stuff during the holiday season. The prices are usually very good. If you don't find what you want in one HomeSense, try another location... they have different stuff at every location.

There's Pottery Barn and William Sonoma. When they have their sales, the pricing isn't too bad. Another favorite of mine is Winners. Last month I purchased these amazing scotch glasses for only $7.99 for 6.

I wish I could get them from PB, WS, or preferrably cookworks but they range from about $25 to $29 per glass-Yowzers! A friend of mine picked up a set of 6 reidel's from Sur la Table last year in Seattle for a total of $25! I didn't mind spending more on my often used reidel wine glasses but for this I am looking for a deal...Anyhow, I am going to check out Homesense, Winners, and Ming Wo outlet today.....

I know you found yours already, but I don't think you want them from Williams Sonoma! I walked into their Calgary store and looked at the collection of Riedel. As far as I could tell, everything was double the price of what you can get the same line (eg. Vinum) for at Ming Wo.

Ming-Wo i've found to be very reasonably priced.

Craigslist also seems to have a lot of glassware, with a surprising amount new. Lots of unopened presents, etc.
