King Cole Bar @ St Regis worth it?

tertzel Dec 7, 2009 05:49 PM

Im going to a midtown performance with some girl friends later in the month- after was thinking of grabbing a drink and a bite. The location of the King Cole Bar @ St Regis was perfect, but the prices (at least for bevvies) is kinda high, even for NYC. I like the Old New York vibe, is St Regis worth the $, or is there anywhere else nearby there that offers comparable atmosphere and service for more recession friendly prices?

Go for it, it really has a fantastic vibe, just have one cocktail, not two - I drink champagne and it really is expensive there, but it's worth it!

I almost hate to give away this amazing secret. My friends and I wanted to have a birthday drink at the King Cole Bar, but it was completely full. The waiter suggested that we sit just outside the bar area and we declined. As we were leaving, we saw the beautiful and intimate Cognac Room. We went back and asked if we might have a drink there and were astonished by the elegant waiters response. We had cocktails in our privite "Library" and even were treated to chocolate covered strawberries, with birthday candle. A priceless evening!
