Chicago-style Italian Beef Sandwich?

  • 3

Can anyone tell me if there is a place that seels these delicious fully-dipped and overstuffed sandwiches? Or is this a business opportunity waiting to happen? If a street vendor truck would open anywhere in town, it would make a killing.

  1. not exactly the same but they do a dipped roast beef on a bun that's supposed to be pretty good.

    1. Crooked Tail Cafe prepares a version that's not bad by my lights...

...but I've never been to that part of the country. The Chicago native who introduced me to these sandwiches (in a DUMBO home kitchen) maintained that the Crooked Tail version lacked some ineffable "Chicago flavor." He also visited Brennan & Carr; not worth the trip, was his verdict.
