Pickled Turnip in Boston

I LOVE pickled turnip in my falafel sandwiches but never seem to find it in Boston. Is there a place that has it?

They have it at Cafe Barada on Mass Ave (Cambridge) and will put it on your falafel if you ask.

This thread is a year old, but since it's been bumped I'll mention that they have pickled turnip at Garlic 'n' Lemons in Allston. (And the folks who run G 'n' L used to work at Aceituna, which JKV mentions way up above.)

i love the stuff at Privus they serve with the bon chon chicken. I also buy it at Arax and ditto the recommendation that a trip through Watertown's wonderful Armenian shops is well worth the visit. You can get pickled garlic at Arax's too.

Fordee's has pickled turnip. Conveniently, they also make the best falafel sandwiches in Boston, so win-win.

Super-easy - the #71 bus out of Harvard Square.

If you are making the trip to Fordees which does indeed have excellent falafel, be sure not to miss Arax, Fastacchi, and Sevan all within a block of Fordees. You won't be disappointed.

Arax also certainly sells the pickled turnip by the pound.

Indeed: that section of Mt. Auburn is one of my favorite chow destinations in the city. Celebrity and the Deluxe Town Diner are right there too!

If its middle eastern, I'd guess Arax or Sevan in Watertown, or Sabb's out in Norwood..

I am like 99% sure that Aceituna in Kendall Square has it--Jenga-sized blocks of pickled something, at any rate. Purple, presumably from the pickling brine, as I'm sure they're not beets. And their falafel wraps are a mere $5 (including tax), to boot! Make sure to get their homemade hot sauce...

Yes, they do have it at Arax and Sevan (probably Massis, too). I really miss House of Ararat's garlic chicken sandwich with pickled turnip.
