Is Juergen's still open? Their website isn't up. Thanks.

  1. I just called their phone number and someone answered.

    1. Who cares? There are so many better choices now in Columbus (Pistachio Vera, Piece of Cake, Eleni's, etc). Wouldn't be surprised if they are closed or sold soon, the baker and his wife (front of house) are old. Read their review on the 'Net, it will make you sick!

Will never forgive them for forgetting to make a big 70th Bday cake for my mother. We were giving her a luncheon at G. Michael's and had placed the order several weeks in advance and re-confirmed it the day prior. When I went to pick up the cake on my way to the restaurant, the old lady said "Sorry, we don't have it - we forgot", We had 30 guests. G Michaels was fabulous in creating a dessert literally in 90 minutes. A friend also ordered a big cake from them a couple years ago and the baker must have used salt instead of sugar, it was inedible. No loss, as far as I am concerned!

We are glad you are still not bitter about it....................

Nemis, when something similar happens to you, then you will be able to comment. If this were to take place today, I would be ordering from Pistachio Vera or A Piece of Cake but a few years ago there was much less choice for a great bakery. This from someone who thinks J. Gilbert is a GREAT place for steak. Ha-ha!

Anybody in the area should appreciate the heads up, Diane. If a business is too disorganized to keep track of something as obviously important to a customer as a large, 70th Birthday cake, I really wouldn't even trust them to keep the danish free of rodent droppings.

Diane, I did second the Hyde park remark, as an alternative I suggested J Gilberts due to the fact that it would be less expensive- not everyone wants to pay $75 plus a head if you include cocktails.
J Gilberts is a great place for the price considering it's a corp company like Hyde park. You are not paying for a la carte sides-each entree comes with a starch and a veg, the atmosphere is warm and inviting & they are continuously winning first place for their food in local events. By no means is this steakhouse like the ones you encounter in NYC but for central Ohio locals it's lovely.
I've never been to the Top Steakhouse, since it's not close to Dublin but I've heard good things about it and will check it out someday.
As far as catering or a special order, mistakes happen, it's part of any business. Some people think it's a pain to pick up the phone and confirm an order a few days before the event but it does help from getting burned. Now with the holiday season upon us hospitality businesses are CRAZY busy-there are bound to be mix ups and forgotten orders.

You did call to confirm, good for you! I'll revise my statement to say "Most of the time it will prevent you from getting burned" :)
I did actually special order something for my X mas dinner and the place in the North market gave me the deer in the headlights look when i came to pick it up. I'm an easy going person i guess , i was disappointed but went with something else they offered-not going to help anything if i throw a fit or bad mouth the place-always have a plan B.
G Michael's does rock-wish they were closer to Dublin
