Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in the New England

New restaurant in downtown New London

I am not a restaurant reviewer, but thought I’d say something about Chaplin’s in New London. My wife and I met two other couples for dinner at Chaplin’s, in the former Luca’s on Bank Street. The place was very crowded, but that afforded us a spot right at the window. Between us we had the salad, lobster bisque, pan-seared scallops and the tuna Oscar. Everything was superb. We enjoyed the meal and deserts. The menu is small, but fits the locale and is mostly fish and seafood with one chicken and one pasta entree. We then sat around for several hours drinking wine, talking with the chef and listening to a couple guys on acoustic guitars. Give the place a try…I think you’ll enjoy it.
