Blood Farm West Groton Pilgrimage
Hi All -
We made our semi-annual drive to Blood Farm today, and can't express how lucky we are to have an awesome 'butcher' within half an hour.
Picked up hamburger, ground lamb, a couple of T-bones, several Delmonicos as well as some veal cutlets (expensivo, but looked good).
Also bought a couple of pounds of bacon, but it seems that the bacon (which is awesome), isn't as well sliced as in years past. Sort of got the stems and seeds thing from our youth, but let's not go there.
I know, I know, we're not looking for designer bacon a la Harringtons or Nieman, but at the same time, seems like the sliced bacon isn't quite as well presented. They have 'bacon ends' in the same cooler, and we didn't go the 'ends' but just the regular Blood bacon. Sort of wish they'd package the bacon like they do the rest of the meat in vacuum seal. Minor point, but our 2 cents.
Due to a lack of freezer space we've never done the half pig or half cow thing, but once we grow up, will definitely give that a try. Not sure how to order once we're grown, but would love thoughts.
Any other suggestions on what goodness the Blood folks can bring into our lives?
Cheers to all!
