Hi... A search of these boards will produce vehement detractors and vehement praisers of Table 8. I fall into the latter category. I found the food moderately inventive and well-portioned, and the atmosphere conducive to intimate adult conviviality. Others have spoken of just the opposite: too loud, too cramped, and too lackluster (food-wise). My expectations of the place were modest going in, and I was rewarded with a more than pleasant experience. Appetizers, entrees, and dessert for two resulted in a tab below $100 for us (without wine). Feels all grown up there for those (like me) who have not the wallet to pay for more sophisticated indulgences...

I liked it. Good food, if not absolutly cutting edge, easy to sit and eat, decently located. It's not the newest or hippest, but I had a good meal. reminded me of Chadwicks, which I miss on a weekly basis.

Horrible. Food was horrible (soup was bland and meat was way oversalted for a start) and the service worse. I called to complain the next day and the manager could have cared less.

this place sucks! one of the most overrated restaurants in LA. last I was there, not ONE entree looked appealing - I ended up with some type of boring fish, ech, also tried everyone else's stuff, including the famed kurobata pork chop, and nothing was good. the flavors were just off, weak. the place just feels awkward. and govind is incredibly cocky.

Wow, sorry to hear of your unfavorable experience at Table 8. Was doing my best to comprehend your dismay with the cuisine and the 'awkward' space, until your ad hominim comment about the chef, which nullified everything prior.

I don't dislike table 8 because of govind's personality - rather, his less-than-friendly disposition adds insult to the injury of the bad food/service/design. I'm fine eating great food from a surly chef, it's just that his food is nowhere near great.

I agree. Way overrated. Had heard so much about the place and was extremely disappointed with the whole dining experience. Will not be back.
