Hemingway's Blue Water Cafe - Springfield, MO

Over the upcoming 2009 Christmas season, my family will be traveling past Springfield, MO twice. Once around dinner time and another during Sunday Brunch hours. Does anyone have any thoughts about Hemingway's Blue Water Cafe that is located inside the Pro Bass Shop in Springfield, MO?

We are a family of four including a 14 year old and an 11 year old. We like a fairly wide range of foods, but like a place with some variety of choices. Any other recommendations for places not to far off I-44 between Joplin and Sullivan, MO would also be appreciated. Thanks.

  1. The I-44 corridor is not the best place for dining in Springfield.

Hemingway's is just ok, in my opinion. It is an interesting place, and the food is not bad, but a little overpriced for what it is. Nearer to I-44 you would do just as well to go to the Cracker Barrel.

South on 65 is Lambert's (maybe 10-12 miles south of 44). It is worth checking out, but the waits are sometimes long.

Buckingham's BBQ is near 44 on Glenstone. It's really good BBQ.

Take 65 south to Sunshine and you can find Big Easy Grill (good cajun- limited seating) or Scramblers (good breakfast food).
