Westside Mom's Dinner Out

Somewhere new on the Westside for a group of moms who-in their pre-child lives-used to enjoy eating at good restaurants.
"New" can be in the past few years; we don't get out much...

      any budgetary limitations?
do you need a full bar or will a beer and wine license suffice?
are you open to ethnic foods? if so, which ones?

Gjelina is great, but loud, so not easy for catching up with old friends. Wilshire is a fantastic suggestion.

I would add Fraiche2, La Cachette, Cache.

          I would also consider Lucques

Finally got to Tavern in Brentwood over the weekend. A lovely space with good food. I think this would fit the bill......

Fraiche in Culver City has great food and an excellent wine list. My PTA mom friends and I enjoy the more casual option of the outside lounge area (low sofas and tables) as there is a terrific bar dinner menu that includes moules frites, lamb bolognese and fruit de mer platters. However, I have not been there since the chef left, so am not sure if it is still as wonderful as it was last summer.

Price range, what you mean be "Westside" and how important food is versus atmosphere and newness would help narrow down suggestions, in the absence of which. . .

Venice/Santa Monica: Gjelina, Tasting Kitchen, Fraiche (but not as good IMO as the CC location), Piccolo, Cache, FIG, Rustic Canyon, Wilshire

              Brentwood: Tavern

Culver City: Fraiche, Akasha, Ford's, Bottle Rock, Uva

i agree with krick that the santa monica fraiche is not as good as the culver city location.
