Close to Embassy Suites w/9 yr old?

Will be arriving 12/20, perhaps not until dinner time. I know of lots of places to go, but wife and kiddo may not be up for traveling across town after a day of traveling. Then again, the beer and nachos may satiate them somewhat. Any place terribly close worth considering? Or will I need to venture over to Chinatown, to Alfanoose, etc.... Kiddo and I are adventurous when it comes to food, wife is less so. I just don't want to go the Manhattan and eat at the Chevy's/Applebee's at the hotel.

Sounds like you know NYC, so you already know Battery Park City and Tribeca are the adjacent neighborhoods. Frankly, nothing hound-worthy in BPC itself; Liberty View (South Cove; your hotel is on the North Cove) is marginally better for Chinese than Lili's (in the same building as the Embassy) but may not be worth freezing your face off for. The Grill Room in the WFC is OK, but closed on weekends. There's a branch of The Palm steakhouse across West Street, which I've not been to. I guess Tribeca would be your best bet that's walkable in December; I've seen plenty of well-behaved kiddos at The Harrison, for ex.

Bubby's in Tribeca is popular with families.

Thanks. We have a few places in mind for other nights, but these suggestions should work for the night we arrive.
