Small Baked Goods for Dessert Buffet

Quik Dec 3, 2009 09:13 AM

Hi, I'm in Irvine (near John Wayne airport) looking for a bakery where I can buy a lot of very small desserts to put together a dessert buffet for approximately 75 people. It would be great if I could have a selection of cakes as well as things like fruit tarts, or perhaps tiramisu in little cups. I have a budget of a few hundred to work with. Ideally, the bakery could be near my office but I could go to Costa Mesa, or further south into Irvine, or through Tustin and Orange too.

One of my coworkers has already suggested Assal Pastry in Irvine, on Culver but told me it was not cheap so any other recommendations would be great.

Thanks so much!

    Whole Foods or Zov's.

If you're willing to broaden your perspective a little, I think the PITHIVIER from Trader Joes is fab. Comes pre-sliced in little bit sized morsels of heaven. Dress it up with a sprinkle of powered sugar and a fresh raspberry on each square.

You might also check out SusieCakes; they have a location in Newport, just off the 55.

Cream Pan in Tustin doesn't do a whole lot of desserts, but they are delicious. I'm in love with their strawberry croissant and their chocolate eclairs.
