Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

Russian dumplings - pelmeni - for home

Are there stores / supermarkets / specialty food shops that sell pelmeni in Manhattan? I've found such items elsewhere in New York (Brighton Beach, for one), but I'm looking for something closer to home, ideally in the LES-Midtown East range. Any pointers or recommendations?

          Are there any places near there that sell the pelmeni for preparation at home? (I'm looking for the dumplings in their frozen state, to be kept in my freezer and prepared in batches on cold winter evenings - I suspect takeout might have a shorter shelf-life)

          • There's a place called "Moscow on the Hudson" up in Washington Heights that has them. I realize that's far from your requested area, but cannot think of anyplace closer. If anyone else knows, please advise.
