i have a vacuum sealed pack of red hot sausages that expired a month ago. . .

i know these questions come up a lot . . . but:

should i eat them? would you? if i cooked them really well, it shouldn't be a problem - but i'm scared every time i think about it. the package says: "use or freeze by nov. 2, 2009"

    thank you all!! because i'm kind of stuffed up - i can't do the nose test (which i agree usually works when simultaneously using eyes). my bacon always stays good far longer than the package says. i think i'll just feel guilty and throw it out and try not to waste food in the future - i hate doing that. but when i bought these, they were either expired or a day away from being expired and i didn't look at the package before purchase! i have to remember to do that more often.

        Yes the nose knows, along with the eyes and fingers. If it passes my so far infallible 3 point inspection I'd cook it and eat it.

        <i know these questions come up a lot . . . but:>

        Yes, yes, yes they do. So here's the thing: Some people will tell you to eat the sausage. Some people will tell you to throw it out. You will have no idea who to believe, because how could you? you don't know these people. So what's the point of even asking? Throw the damn sausage away. It's sausage, for crying out loud. It's not your first born.

        Look! here's a thread from someone curious about whether to eat a suspicious lasagna. 100 (100!) responses, and not a one from the OP, who obviously ate the lasagna and died. So there you go.

          LMAO! thanks for that :)

          oh, and to the OP, as the saying goes, "when in doubt, throw it out."

            If you are that scared about it, it probably isn't worth the worry it would cause you. I assume from your wording that they have not been frozen, so have they been sitting in the fridge?
