Hello, I am a 27 year old woman who has been living in Montreal for about 2.5 years. I just got a great job offer and I'm moving to Istanbul next week. So I want to enjoy this week as much as I can and my favorite thing to do is eating!
Any suggestions?
Thank you so much!

um, they actually do sell pork in istanbul. the only places where you won't find pork would be in remote villages in turkey. (getting this from my roommate who has lived in istanbul.)

Technically, Turkey is a secular country that just happens to have a large muslim population. There are certainly pork eaters who live there too - especially close to the Greek border.

I've always loved Gibby's in Old Montreal.

Have a long lazy morning of coffee and pastries at les Copains d’Arbord on de Bordeaux and Mont Royal. If there is anything better than a cheese croissant warmed up – it should be illegal.

Spend a Sunday ambling through Jean Talon admiring the fresh, seasonal produce – and leave with a dozen heaving bags bursting at the seams.

Head back up to Little Italy one evening to indulge on the fabulous antipasti and beautiful Italian fare that Il Mulino has to offer.

Visit one of my favorite poutine joints – Ma-am-m Bolduc or La Banquise – for that artery clogging, shamefully unhealthy treat we all know and love.

Have cosy dinner for two at L’Express.

Sit back and enjoy a bottle of red wine at Upstairs – the best place for jazz in the city.

Erm... are you sure you want to leave this place?!

Seconded. Specifically, braised pork belly. With lot's of wine.

Just go to APDC, expalin the situation, and have them lavish pork upon you.

              Pick some classics
              1. L'express for their steak frites, salmon and incredible homemade chocolate tart.
              2. Schwartz smoke meat
              3. McKernians Luncheonette (not classic, but incredible)
              4. Burgundy Lion (fisherman's pie or fish and chips)
              5. Great wine bar like Pullman's!

Montreal has everything you could hope for, I really hope that you are able to find what suits your swan song. If you know more specifically what you're looking for let me know!
