Sunday Lunch Near Midway

A dear friend of ours will be flying in to Midway this weekend . He has a layover of several hours and the plan is to go for lunch, but I don't think we want to go very far. We'd love a place where we can sit down, have some beers and burgers and catch up on life without being rushed out the door. Any ideas?

Thanks!

  1. I live near by so I'm pretty familiar w/ all of these: Coaches in the Hol Inn Hotel(NOT the Express!) & Dempsey's in the Marriott -- both in the Midway Hotel Center where you'll also find a TGI Fridays, as well as, Durbins at 5406 W. 79th (for really good thin Chgo style pizza) & the Illinois Bar at 4135 W. 47th (for awesome burgers & huge chicken wings!) Both are great local fare about 10 mins away from the airport. Enjoy!

    1. For deep-dish double-crust "stuffed" pizza, Giordano's is delicious! There's a location 1/2 mile south of the Midway terminal at 63rd and Cicero. Depending on how much time you plan to spend there, you can phone ahead with your pizza order to avoid waiting 30-45 minutes while seated for your pizza to bake. But it's also a place where you can relax without being rushed. www.giordanos.com

I appreciate the pizza recommendations, but pizza is not what we're looking for although I appreciate the "not being rushed" part. I had mentioned burgers in my post and I think that's more what we're looking for. I think we'll have about 2 1/2 hours.

      2. How about Portillo's? 62 Harlem, great burgers. Our go to place as soon as we land at Midway. Maybe 10 minutes away, depending on traffic.
