Cheesy Gordita Crunch

Ok, not sure if it's nationwide, but in my lil section of earth, Taco Bell is pimping this new "Cheesy Gordita Crunch." For the record, I know Taco Bell is dreck. I also happen to LOVE Taco Bell now and again. I have no problem admitting it, either. Once every few months, I get craving or out of necessity, I'll "run for the border." no big deal to me - I'm not and auto chain hater - not in the least. It just so happens that a lot of the chain places sling out garbage, imo. Anyway, so I've seen the commercials, the stars lined up todsay, and I found myself in line at Taco Bell at lunchtime today. My splurge item among the two or three 99 cents or under items was : "The Cheesy Gordita Crunch."

Talk about disgusting.

Ok, it's all opinion, I know, but for me, this thing was foul. It was all of the regular TB componenets, lettuce, tomato, cheese, ground meatish-style-stuff-that-probably-barely-meets-the-gov't-standard-for-being-called-beef-without-having to-legally-use-an-asterisk-after-the-word-beef-along-with-a-disclaimer-at-the-bottom-of-the-display, but what ruined it was their new "sauce." It was like some dastardly abomination, and experiment that went awry. It was....SWEET. Like sugary sweet. What in tarnation??? It was like miracle whip with a little touch of lime juice tang. Totally inedible. I used a napkin to scrape that vile goo off as best I could, but the remnants could not be completely wiped out. Two bites. The fallen soldier still lies motionless in my garbage can.

SUGARY SAUCE on my Mexican food? The obesity rate will surely continue to climb.

  1. This is what happens when you get a bunch of suits together in some boardroom making decisions about food (or what they like to call "product") I do TB about once a month.

    1. I've been debating trying it, but this settles it.
      Taco Bell, here I come!

isnt the chessy gordita crunch like 5 years old ha.

      2. I heard a radio ad for this on the way to work one day and craved it all the way till noon. Not saying I would ever have it again, but I did not take away the sweet taste that the OP is talking about.

I like this item, which indeed was around at least once before. Yeah, it's way too much starch, but it's also a lot less messy to eat than a crunchy taco. I didn't notice that the sauce was particularly sweet, either. It costs $1.49 where I live, and one of them is enough for a light lunch for me.
