Seeking a la carte chestnut soup

rworange Dec 2, 2009 10:38 AM

I've been looking at Christmas menus and lots of them have chestnut soup as part of their prix-fixe menu

Barolo in Pacifica
Roasted Italian Chestnut Soup Truffle Honey / Sherry Wine / Chives

Dry Creek Kitchen
ROASTED CHESTNUT SOUP SAUTÉED BAY SCALLOPS SPICED RUM SABAYON CRISPY CHESTNUTS

And a few others

And no ... I won't make it myself no matter how easy. I had water chestnut soup for Thanksgiving but it doesn't seem like the same thing.

Anyway, now I have a craving for chestnut soup but I'm not seeing it yet on any December memus. I'd appreciate it if anyone spots chestnut soup that they would post.

Village Pub has it on their winter menu. Their soups are typically fantastic. Had the best green garlic soup I've ever had there.

Just noticed it today on the online menu for Madera in the Rosewood Hotel in Menlo Park:
Roasted Chestnut Soup, Pickled Quince, Candied Walnuts

My g/f had it last night at Frances, the new restaurant on 17th in the Castro. It's even on their sample menu here:

We only spoke briefly last night but I remember her saying the soup was very good. Might be worth a phone call..
