Monday night birthday dinner
I have been looking for a place to dine on Monday for my birthday and need some advice. I have made reservations for Wednesday night CAJ and have actually made reservations at Robert & Louise for Monday night as they are open(!). I just found out that Ze Kitchen Gallerie is also open on Monday, and is Chez Denise as well?
Some bad reviews of R&L have me hesitant. I know that R&L and ZKG are very different, but what counts is that the food is excellent (value too-not too pricey) and that the place, ambiance is nice, enjoyable. This means for me lively, filled with people and friendly unpretentious staff. I want to be able to relax and enjoy my food!
I hear that Josephine is open-perhaps- on Mondays as well, but it seemed a little more expensive. I am aiming for 30-35 euro set menu.
Thank you so much for any help you can give!
Chez Denise and Joséphine are indeed open on sundays. Neither has prixfixe menu. Joséphine definitely won't let you out for 35e for a whole meal -- see http://picasaweb.google.fr/ZeJulot/Jo...
For very classic modern French cooking, Au Bon Accueil looks like a perfect fit, though the ambiance is very... sober. It has a 30/35e prixfixe and is open on mondays. The same owner has Chez Les Anges, more exciting setting, same kind of food (haven't been yet, anyone game?).
Well if it were my or Colette's Birthday we'd select Ze but it is definately not for people from New York or LA who insist they can do better at home. It's inventive, ever-changing and run by an omni-present, omni-enthusiastic and omni-voric guy.
If you want a French-French place, how about le Meurice?
