Need an experience restaurant with a table in the kitchen, or wine cellar

I LOVE the DM restaurants. 40th birthday coming up. Want something special but different for a party of 4. We've eaten pretty much everywhere, high and low. Recommendations?

There is a table in the kitchen at Gordon Ramsey. Bigger than a 4 top, but these days you never know..... With 4 at it though, everyone would have an excellent view.

It's as hard to get into as just about anywhere in the city right now, but if you can snag the reservation, people are raving about Brooklyn Fare - a bit off the beaten track (whether that's a plus or minus depends on you), plus it's BYOB (almost definitely a plus). http://culinarysagacity.blogspot.com/...

Wow this sounds amazing, as do they all, thank you! Since we're only four I'd probably prefer the wine cellar at Picholine - I don't want to share! :D

        Keep em coming thanks!!

I have also eaten in the wine room of Picholine and loved it. Just had dinner a couple weeks ago at the new Ocean and they have a private room in the kitchen that looks wonderful.

Daniel's has private glass enclosed table overlooking thier kitchen I believe you can reserve for $1000. Of course this is for special occaision which yours is-quite a treat.

If you're looking for an open kitchen, Momofuku Ko, L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon, and Degustation come quickly to mind.

If you want a "chef's table" type experience with a nice long meal, the 10 course option at Degustation may fit the bill.

I realize I should provide more info. Price = not so much an object. We want to go big on food, big on wine. A 2-3 hour tasting extravaganza is probably the preference.

Picholine has a lovely wine cellar with a table for four. We had a tasting menu there a couple of weeks ago with wine and it was simply fantastic. Service was perfect and the food was truly amazing. If you like cheese, they also take a great deal of pride in the cheese course and presentation.
