best bagel, cc, and lox sandwich -San Diego area

I have a craving for this and don't want to waste it on a bad sandwich.... what are your suggestions?

Top of the Bagel in Carlsbad is your best bet for bagels here in San Diego.

Costco often has a nice selection of Nova Lox.

And suprisingly Ralphs in Hillcrest has the ends, they are far less expensive.

The Top of the Bagel website says they also have a store in Solana Beach at 665 San Rodolfo Dr # 123. I'll need to check them out. Must try their rye bagels. Thanks for the tip, Ewilensky.

The only deli's in San Diego do not have really good bagels, they are more bread. Your best bet is to get your lox and go to Einstein or Big City and do it at home. Or go to the Einstein on Aero Drive, and you can sit on the patio and get a Starbucks coffee.

If you're willing to come to North County, Signature Bagel and Deli is great. The bagels are close to NYC-quality, and there's always a good variety. The owner and staff are super-nice, and it's the only place I can get a chocolate chip bagel with bacon cream cheese. The owner thinks it's a little odd, and always gets a little laugh out of it.

Sorry about that. It's in Escondido, in the shopping center at the corner of Escondido Blvd and Valley Pkwy. It's in the section with Fatburger, Starbucks, and a couple decent little family-owned restaurants.

Mail order. Brent's in LA will ship here, as will Barney Greengrass in NYC.

This is not an item worth getting here. The best I've found is poor.

If you're not set on having this exact item, Bread and Cie makes a smoked salmon sandwich on lemon pugliese bread with herbed cream cheese, and fresh mozzarella. I like it quite a bit, and find it works well to satisfy the bagel and lox craving.

I would get mail order from Katz Deli in NYC. I have done it before. Works great.

The little Italy farmers market has a new salmon and lox person. I would give that a shot if you don't want to ship food in.

I have never bought anything from the little Italy farmers market new salmon and lox person but it looks good.

2nd's Brent's. If you can find fresh Western Bagels in SD, you "might" be able to find good lox and do your own. I think Brent's uses Western Bagels. Costco sometimes has decent lox.
