chocolate buttercream frosting recipe?
Does anyone have a good chocolate buttercream frosting recipe which they can recommend? I plan to frost a yellow cake. I would prefer to avoid recipes which have uncooked egg.

This frosting (and cake) are both excellent. Really delicious and beautiful. It is quite different from an egg based buttercream...

Wow...that looks incredible. Think it would work without the coffee?

Yes, but it really only enhances the taste of the chocolate.

i made this one tonight and wasn't really that impressed. i did, however, appreciate the fact that it was a total eggless recipe but i felt that the flavors were very harsh.
however, i really enjoyed the texture of both the cake and the frosting. i did double the frosting recipe.
but so you know, my sweet hubby and 3 little chickens loved the cake. my hubby went back for seconds and since it was his birthday, i let him! (c;

Both are easy and great on yellow layer cake.

This one is silky, deeply chocolatey (not just sweet), never crystallizes or gets grainy, and is completely idiot proof. You can use any kind of chocolate except unsweetened.
20 Tbsp butter (2 1/2 sticks), room temp
1 c powdered sugar, sifted
3/4 c cocoa, sifted
3/4 c light corn syrup
8 oz chocolate, melted and cooled
Buzz the butter, sugar, and cocoa in a food processor. Scrape down the sides and add the corn syrup and pulse. Scrape down again and add the chocolate. Voila.
