<content>I've had fried chicken all over the tristate area and all over the south, and I pronounce the version at LL Dents in Carle Place, Long Island (just east of Glen Cove Rd on Old Country Rd) absolutely killer. Really, just about perfect, and transportive as hell.

I'd been to this restaurant a couple of years ago, eaten very well, and returned, experienced a dud meal, and wrote the place off. A friend insisted that while they're hit or miss at other times, the place pulls out all the stops for its Sunday brunch (a point-and-they-serve buffet), and she was right. Nothing less than very very good, and lots of things just wonderful. $20/person, includes soft drinks (excellent sweet tea) and desserts (near-perfect banana pudding, but I think she cheats with cream).

Especially that near-perfect fried chicken. Worth an hour trip, if you're in the city. It's about as good as, or maybe even a tad better than, Charles' (when he's there and when he's totally on his game).
