Need Hamburger Help! [Moved from Midwest Board]

I cooked ground round for tacos. The smell of the meat was so sweet it was nauseating...unlike I've smelled before. I know bad hamburger usually smells sour but on the side of caution I pitched this meat. My daughter actually came into the kitchen and asked what the smell was. Any thoughts on why it would smell so sweet?

    1. It was beginning to rot. Rot is often described as smelling sickly sweet. You did well to toss it.
