heard from a Finnish friend the other day, which got me remembering eating Karelian pies while I was visiting in Helsinki some years ago.
Does anyone sell these in NYC? I did a search on here but came up empty.

yeah, sorry. it's a football shaped rye flatbread type thing filled with a rice porridge. Heat them up and serve with butter or a thin slice of cheese.
It seemed to me that, in Helsinki, the karelian pie to a Finn was like a bagel to a NY'er.
