Catering - latkes and small sandwiches?

BEmama Nov 27, 2009 05:35 PM

Where can I get good latkes and small sandwiches for a holiday party? I don't want to serve a big brisket sandwich - something small is preferable. Grateful for any and all suggestions!

Need more info - Washington DC environs or Baltimore? Kosher preferred or not necessary?

Sorry - this is WDC and does NOT need to be kosher. TIA!

You can get exactly what you're looking for through Balducci's catering department.

Balducci's often has latkes in its prepared food case and I can vouch for the taste. They're not as good as mine, but these tend to be thin so they crisp up nicely (my preference) when reheated in a 350 oven.

Latkes are now being offered on the Hanukkah menu for $9.99 per dozen. Incidentally, if you're not a total traditionalist, you can also order mixed vegetable latkes and apple fritters for the same price.

The Home and Office menu -- Balducci's regular menu -- offers an item called the Sandwich Sampler which would work for you. I've ordered this with very pleasant results. The online description mentions "an assortment of the very best signature sandwiches." In fact, I was able to choose what I wanted in the way of fillings and breads.
