Maykadeh Persian Restaurant (North Beach), SF - Khoresht Fesenjoon - any reports?

I haven't seen any reports on Maykadeh Persian Restaurant. They've been in business for 26yrs and the chef has been there 18 of the 26yrs.

On NPR's California Report they talked about Pomegranates and they talked to the chef about his Khoresht (stew) Fesenjoon. Slow roasted walnuts, pomegranate molasses, sugar stewed for 2hrs & served w/ saffron rice (on the online menu said basmati rice). $16

Anyone try the dish or the restaurant lately?

    1. Not lately, but here's a link to the Maykadeh chowdown report from 2003 where we ordered that dish. It's made with a chicken thigh there, I prefer duck. But it would be good to get an update on this spot.

      1. I've always found this place to be a big letdown, complete with undercooked, bland rice, and overcooked meats. What's worse is it's one of those places where you know they're capable of turning out much better food, but that would require some respect for the clientele.

          1. That's my favorite Persian place, but that's one of my least favorite dishes there. Way too sweet for my taste, reminded me of peanut butter and jelly.

My favorite dishes are the aash, lamb's tongue, calf brains, and lamb's head.
