Ocala is not exactly a mecca for foodies. I moved away from there a couple of years ago so things may have changed, but I always enjoyed Felix's and Bella Luna. Besides those two, the choices were pretty much "all the usual suspects" (Applebee's, Olive Garden, Chili's and other chains).

Bella Luna is now unfortunately quite closed. Permanently. I've never enjoyed Felix's; seems more like a diner in terms of menu although everything is prepared well.
There are a few new and good places opening. Pi on Broadway (mentioned below) and La Cuisine are getting good reviews.
Horse and Hounds, in spite of almost continual ownership changes, is a local experience. The western location is frequented by the local horse community and a great place to get a real tip on that next race (or on that wonderful stud you've been checking out ... and I'm speaking equine here, of course). Good local steaks, too.

The main office of the small company I work for is in Ocala, although I live several miles away. For our office Christmas present to the boss and her husband, everyone was in agreement that a gift certificate to Horse & Hound was exactly right. It is supposedly a special place in the area.

I was in Ocala last May and had a great dinner at Pi on Broadway. We went for the pizza but ended up eating from the tapas menu. If the weather is nice check out their rooftop bar. Also heard good things about Mark's Steakhouse, but we never made it there.

I like Harry's Seafood in Downtown. They are a small chain with a few other locations scattered around Florida, but they do have really good Cajun food.
