Buying Herbs and spices in Edmonton
I am planning on making tea blends for people for christmas and I am looking to buy cheap, but high quality herbs to do this...
I am going to look at superstore, TnT, maybe planet organic, but does anyone have any better suggestions for finding things like:
Mint
Rosehips
Fennel
Lemon balm
Chamomile
Lavender
Sage
Bergamot,
Hibiscus flower
rose petals, etc.
(all dried)
While I'm at it, I will also ask if you have any favorite tea blends you'd like to share.
My personal fav right now is sage, peppermint and a pinch of green tea.

Not sure where to get herbs in E'ton but I would suggest cross-posting(and searching) this on Home Cooking regarding the herb blends for tea. There are a few threads going right now about homemade gifts that may also have ideas.

I wonder if the new Bulk Barn would carry this type of thing? Organic Roots used to carry alot of teas and spices bulk, I don't know if they do now that they have moved...
maybe planet organic (south side) as it is bigger. Cally's teas or Steeps has a lot, however you would be paying a premium b/c they are already tea
looks like it is time for a garden next year :)
PS. I like lemon and ginger, lemon grass would be nice too with the ginger

Thanks for the tips. I'll check bulk barn and organic roots.
I just moved to Edmonton in this summer, so didn't get a garden in, and I don't know where to find everything just yet. There are bins at Community Natural Foods in Calgry that are exactly what I was hoping to find here. Worst comes to worst, I'll have to do my shopping in Calgary, a day before christmas, or just pay more for non bulk.
Garden for sure next year. Cheers!

I have seen bulk herbs at a few places lately. one was at Organic Roots http://www.organicroots.ca/ the other was at Vitality Health 14963 Stony Plain Road (Jasper Gates). Sorry can not compare prices.

for cheap, you can try some of the indian food shops on 34th Ave or the chinese herbalists shops on 97th Street.
