Burbank Area Apps/Tapas/Lounge

benyyz Nov 25, 2009 05:14 AM

Hi all,

I'm visiting LA for a team meeting in a couple weeks. I've been charged with finding a restaurant for drinks and appetizers for our last night.

We're staying in Universal City that night due to early morning flights out of Burbank; so ideally the restaurant would be in that vicinity. Although, from a map it looks like West Hollywood is fairly close too.

Looking for a place that has a loose enough format that people can order apps. or small plates and come and go as they like. A great cocktail list would also be appropriate.

Thanks for any help!

There is a place in Studio City called "Next Door Tapas Lounge", and the same guy owns another Spanish tapas place further down the road called "Bokado". Both would be good, but for a more casual, hip setting, try Next Door:

Granville Cafe in downtown Burbank isn't bad. They have half-priced drinks and apps during happy hour. I believe that the economic conditions have lengthened their happy hour from 4PM until close, but I would suggest calling ahead of time. They might be willing to do more to accommodate your group. I really love their sweet potato fries. Their sangria isn't bad, either.

There is actually a tapas bar near Universal City in Studio City. It's called Ole Tapas Bar, I haven't been there yet, but it might be what you are looking for.

          Here is the website: http://www.oletapasbar.com/

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your stay in LA

Thanks for this recommendation - I'm going to book Olé it seems to have the right type of casual atmosphere: drop-in, drop-out, drinks and small plates.

D'cache http://www.dcacherestaurant.com/ in Toluca Lake would probably work well, given your parameters.

I'm looking for something a little less 'sitdown' (judging from the photos). But the menu looks terrific, I think I might need to go there on a night off! We don't get very good Latin cuisine here in Montreal!
