2009 Feast of the seven fishes at Michael Minna

There is often a query about restaurants serving Christmas Eve feast of the 7 fishes. Here's the Westin St. Francis holiday schedule which mentions it (pdf format)

Christmas Eve, enjoy the “Feast of the Seven Fishes” tasting menu. Cost $135 per person.

Past 7 fishes topics ... though other than Incanto, nothing else really turns up. Incanto will hold the dinner again this year

  1. Incanto's is a third the price of Michael Mina's! Yow.

Reading past reports it looks like Incanto has really scaled back the dinner this year with only three courses. Also, in the past it was around 80 dollars

Hasn't some Sicilian restuarant opened in the Bay Area? I keep thinking one of the many new-ish Italian restuarants over the past years had a Sicilian leaning.

Maybe you're thinking of 54 Mint? People have called it Sicilian, but the menu includes dishes from all over Italy.

    2. According to the person I just spoke with at Michael Mina, they are not doing a special Feast of the Seven Fishes dinner Christmas Eve.

Incanto's looks lame. Three courses does not seven fishes make. And one of those courses is dessert.

Any other leads for this year in SF?

We went there about 3 years ago and we were very dissappointed. I think there were 5 courses, and one of them did have 3 kinds of seafood (a pasta dish), and that is how they claimed "the seven fishes" special. Not one single dish was exciting, they were all very mediocre, definitely not worth the price. The worst thing was dessert, a plate of pedestrain cookies, that was it. They tasted like some packaged store bought type. I am surprised that they are still offering this.

Yeah, I know way too late, but there is an inquiry every year and I just found this when looking at the website for a new Tuscan restaurant in Yountville - Cantinetta Piero at the Hotel Luca

"In Italy many families celebrate Christmas Eve with a fish-based dinner. Come enjoy an authentic festive à la carte holiday seafood menu as created by Chris Vaccaand the Cantinetta Piero kitchen team"
