Meatgrinding help MSP

I'm making my grandmother's meatballs this weekend, and I am having a problem finding a butcher to help me with these instructions, which MUST, apparently, be followed:

2 lbs meat in all
1 lb round steak
1/2 lb pork
1/2 lb veal
All ground together in fine grinder 3 times

Lunds and Byerly's won't do it, Clancy's won't do it, and Ingebretsen's won't do it.

Thoughts?

  1. try kramarczuk's.

    1. Wow, those are some precise requirements!

I'm blown away that Clancy's won't do it. If Kramarczuk's can't do it, Widmers on St. Clair in St. Paul is service oriented in the old-fashioned way and might be able to help. I don't want to send you running all around town when time and gas are so precious, but here's a link to thread on old-fashioned butchers from Dec 2008 that might be a good starting point. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/5776...

Good luck! I hope your meatballs turn out just like Grandmas!

      1. I'd give Everett's on 38th and Cedar in South Minneapolis a call. They've done quite a few special orders for my friend and may be willing to help you out.

I will second this suggestion. Everett's, as long as they have the meat available, should be able to do something like this. I just don't know if they have veal currently.

        2. Let us know if and where you find success so we all know where to go for a special order like this.
