Oakville mid-week date location?

I've been set up with a guy who lives in Hamilton, and we've decided that Oakville is mid way. I'm looking for a comfortable place for drinks, and if all goes well somewhere we can also grab a small bite.

I live in downtown toronto, and the only places i've been to in Oakville are chains- which i would prefer to avoid. Any suggestions?

Definitely meet up downtown Oakville. It is a nice area and you can even go for a walk/stroll if the weather happens to be nice. I assume since it is mid-week you are meeting in the evening.

But, for Thai food I wouldn't recommend it (not really good value).

If you are downtown you will have a ton of options for food.

If you are looking for a tea/coffee type place I like "Green Bean" which is in the town square. They also have desserts.
