Distillery District Restaurants choice advice?
Hi
I have to use a gift certificate and don't have a babysitting situation so the kids have to join us.
Any recommendations between: The Boiler House, Archeo and Pure Spirits?
For lunch.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the tips. I should have specified 2.5 and 7 year old girls.
Pity the area has such a mediocre benchmark. Puzzling but but not surprising these days though.
I will give Archeo a try.Tomorrow is festival of lights at Nathan Phillips, make an evening of it. I hope they take reservations.
Great help! thanks again.›1 Reply-
re: Idas
Here is my feed back. We never made it last year as reservations were difficult.
We ended up ditching the kids (sitter) and went to Pure Spirits this weekend.. I had the salmon on spinach and rosti minus horse radish cream, my SO had 6 oysters(which he raved about) and white fish with mussels on spinach and baby potatoes.
Both main courses were very flavourful and ingredients cooked as requested. My salmon main was substantial enough for my appetite, my SO's white fish looked really quite tiny. We shared the "warm apple crumble" which was very cold and tasted as if made in a Home Ec grade 9 student. It was served with a very artifical tasting almond icecream.
Aside from a really unpleasant dessert, their seafood was fresh and well seasoned. Not my kind of ambiance (it had a weird vibe) but wait staff was attentive and well timed.
cheers

Depends how old the kids, to be honest. Boiler House does an adequate brunch buffet, which I think might be around 25$ per adult, kids half if under certain age. Good music, nice room, food won't impress. Pure Spirits has booths, but the menu (last time I was there) wasn't particularly kid friendly. Haven't been to Archeo, which seems to have more generic pastas and pizzas. Definitely the least interesting visually. Save room for something chocolate-y at Soma, and whatever mediocre experience you have can be partially paved over.
