Scungili in Boston?
Just had the Korean version of scungili at Privus (called Spicy Moon Snails or something like that!) I had one of those Freudian culinary moments: I miss the scungili of my Brooklyn childhood. Years ago I used to go to a wonderful old Italian market in Providence and get scungili to take home. Anybody know a source in Boston?

re: galangatron
Googling the markets that galangatron mentioned I found this great list of "ethnic" markets in the Boston area, thought I'd post the link:

I'm pretty sure I saw them at Courthouse Seafood last Friday, large snails maybe 4-5 inches long.
I hadn't thought about them much previously but I am now interested!
Courthouse also had live sea urchin and uni trays, I got one of the trays and it was fresh and flavourful. New Deal had Albacore tuna and octopus last Friday, among other things.

C'mon... Get in the car, head south to Venda Ravioli in Providence. They always have it in the case.
You know you want to!

I've never seen it in Boston, but then again, I've never really cared for it. There a wholesale company out of Rhode Island called Rome Packing that makes scungili salad and marinated scungili. I don't know what kind of business they do outside of RI, but you could give them a call and see if they have any customers up here. 401-228-7170

Don't know where you can get it at retail, but it's periodically on the menu at Erbaluce.
